Susan stood in the driveway, looking back up at us. She felt scared, alone and confused. She’d always had her identity tied into her work. She wasn’t aware of it, but Susan clearly believed “I am what I do.”
Susan had been working for an international company, and they decided to move their United States headquarters from Colorado to Los Angeles. They offered to let her keep her job, as long as she was willing to relocate to California. If you’ve ever been to Colorado, you may have an appreciation for just how beautiful it is here. It’s NOT a place you want to move from…it’s a place people usually move to. Her heart was torn…
So there she was, faced with a life-changing decision…was she going to keep the job and make the move? Or was she ready to honor what she really felt, and start on a new adventure… It would take all the courage she could muster to walk away from that opportunity, yet in her heart it was the only thing she could do!
So, how much courage does it take to fulfill your life purpose? Well, let’s take a look at what courage is, and what it is not!
Courage is:
- NOT the absense of fear
- deciding to act in spite of fear
- realizing that something is more important than fear
People often wait to take action on what’s in their heart because they are under the illusion that if it’s right, they won’t feel afraid. In fact, most people assume that the courageous are fearless. Nothing could be further from the truth!
EVERYONE feels fear! If you’re waiting for it to subside, you may wait forever. Don’t let your life purpose pass you by.
If you’d like to discover just how important you really are, and the difference you make to this world by just being YOU…then take the 21-Day “I AM a Gift to the World!” Challenge.
