Ever wonder if famous people are affected by Alzheimer’s disease?
Alzheimers disease affects famous and unknowns… rich and poor… intellectuals and non-intellectuals… and more. It’s a disease that can touch anyone.
What do famous people like Laura Bush, Maria Shriver, Leeza Gibbons, Angie Dickinson and Terrell Owens know about Alzheimers symptoms?
The answer might just surprise you.
Well, each has personal experience with Alzheimers symptoms.
How?
Well, a close family member of each has been diagnosed with the 6th leading cause of death in the United States—Alzheimer’s disease.
Each of these people is among the folks interviewed by Larry King in his new special “CNN Presents: A Larry King Special—Unthinkable: the Alzheimer’s Epidemic.”
According to CNN, this special will cover who gets Alzheimer’s and why. It will include interviews with a variety of famous people affected by Alzheimer’s symptoms and disease. Including…
- Former First Lady Laura Bush
- California’s former First Lady and Alzheiemer’s disease activist Maria Shriver
- Actor Seth Rogen
- Actress Angie Dickinson
- TV host Leeza Gibbons
- Football star Terrell Owens
- Ron Reagan, a son of President Ronald Reagan
Additionally neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta will explain Alzheimer’s disease and how it affects the brain.
What about treatments and ongoing research?
In following the search for effective treatments and possible cure the special will visit the Mayo Clinic and the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas.
And what about caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s symptoms?
Oh, they’re included too. Leeza Gibbons interviews caregivers and takes the cameras behind the scenes to one of Leeza’s Place support centers for caregivers. This should give an interesting perspective on Alzheimers symptoms and disease not often seen on television.
The special will air Sunday May 1, 2011 at 8 PM Eastern Time (ET) and will be reshown on Saturday May 7 at 8 PM ET on CNN.
