“All You Need Is Love” is a song that was written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon/McCartney.
Well, the same goes for our Mother Earth… all you need is love.
The environmental destruction that continues to go on day after day comes from being disconnected — and most people aren’t even aware of it. It’s not easy to change your behavior until you have awareness.
As Native people, loving the Earth is as natural as breathing. It’s not something we work at, so it’s difficult for us to understand how people don’t recognize that everything they do to the Earth, they do to themselves.
Every plant, animal, bird, fish and insect is a beautiful part of Creation. Our elders say that without the animals, we would die of loneliness…
Each and every action you take has a definite, long-lasting effect on all living beings. You may not be aware of it, but you are intimately connected to everyone — and everything.
Right now, there are unseen forces working together to guide and protect you. Some people refer to these as ‘angels’ while others call them ‘spirits.’
Do you know how to listen to and ‘hear’ all of life speaking to you? Wouldn’t you like to know what it is saying?
If you’d like to learn more about how to openly communicate with the loving forces in Nature, we created a video called “The Four Brothers.”
Do you love the Earth?
You say you do… in fact, most people you ask would say “Yes, of course.”
So what are you doing to show your Mother Earth some love? How can you take care of the Earth Mother?
You can always start small. You don’t need to take on everything at one time — and starting with one thing is a GREAT beginning.
Waste…
Waste can mean so many things. How about we start with using less plastic.
Have you ever thought of ways to get around using less plastic?
Yes, it might seem hard at first, and there are some things you may not be able to avoid using that are plastic. But you really CAN make a big difference with just a little effort…
Take a moment and look through everything you have. If it is plastic:
- Are you able to recycle it?
- Do you recycle it?
- How can you reuse it as many times as possible?
You know that the reality is that you cannot entirely avoid plastic. The world has made it such a part of your life. It’s up to you to make conscious choices.
Here are a few ideas on how to change using plastics:
- Get milk in a paper carton — not a plastic jug
- If you get ice cream try to get in a paper carton not plastic tub (If you use a plastic tub reuse it. Why not make it a compost bucket? We keep one under our kitchen sink.)
- For your ink cartridge instead of throwing it away and getting a new one go get it refilled (not only are you saving the earth but you are saving yourself money!) and have it recycled.
Those are just a few ideas.

Show your Mother Earth some LOVE and start looking at new ways to use what you have.
And, on a much deeper level, awaken to the awareness that you are connected to all living things. Start living in a more thoughtful, conscious way so you can experience the beauty that is your birthright. When you see how much life is trying to communicate with you, you will be changed forever!
You are a gift to the world!
