Can you get deep healing sleep when you are in intense or chronic pain?
Sarah slammed the book shut. She had had enough; she was gritting her teeth she was so mad.
Here we go AGAIN… It was a book on pain and all it told her was do this, do that and do, do, do more.
All Sarah could think was: ” I don’t want to hear anything else about what to do.
I don’t want to be told what to do!
I don’t want to be guided through what to do.
I don’t want to do anything more at all!
I have fibromyalgia and I’m in a lot of pain.”
She thought to herself, ” They should just tell you to get horizontal.
Get horizontal!” As in, ” Lie down!”
Sarah was so exhausted she didn’t want to hear anything except how she could rest.
The pain was so intense it was hard for her to even relax enough to sleep.
But that’s what she needed most; that was all she needed.
SLEEP!
She just didn’t know how she was to get that sleep.
As it turned out, she spoke with the author of that book on pain and told her what she thought. As the book was being edited for a new version, Sarah actually ended up giving her input for it, and changes were made to address her concerns and frustrations.
It was clear to Sarah, to the author, and to everyone who she talked with that what she deeply needed was a better way to rest –
to get deeper, more restorative rest.
Difficulty getting meaningful rest and quality sleep certainly is a primary challenge for people with fibromyalgia symptoms.
So, how do you rest?
How do you get your best rest, especially if you’re dealing with pain?
This is THE big question – the most important thing to address. This is the primary reason it’s critical to find some relief from the pain.
The biggest reason for pharmaceutical intervention, the drug therapies, is to be able to relieve the pain enough so that other more natural treatments, lifestyle modifications and balances can take place and be effective.
As a result of that pain relief, you can then have your attention present.
The pain relief is enough to allow you to do the other things necessary to relieve stress, release tension, avoid burnout and overwhelm, and to get things done efficiently. You must be able to work without falling apart from fatigue, exhaustion and depression.
Sarah needed all of that that, a way to deeply rest. Every one of us needs that!
Sleep is a primary need.
It is for everyone, but even more so if you are in great pain. Getting really replenishing sleep, which is needed to repair, rebuild and recharge the body, is one of the great challenges of dealing with intense or chronic pain. Treatment for pain has to be able to allow for the sleep irregularity that results from that pain. One of the primary factors involved is being able to relax enough so that the pain can release or diminish.
The more tension there is, the more the pain gets locked in.
So it’s very important to find whatever ways work for you to relax and relieve this stress and tension.
Very powerful ways can be found in many different forms of meditation. There are opportunities to experience tastes of these in posts in the Fibromyalgia Symptoms and in the Life Purpose categories.
Do you remember that THE biggest reason for pain relieving drugs, particularly with fibromyalgia, is to get enough relief so that the lifestyle changes and balances needed for healing can take place. The pain relief then enables you to release stress and tension and to work without going into depression or burnout.
But first, on the physical pain component:
Many people experiencing fibromyalgia symptoms feel they have tried every natural remedy available and found it did not do enough.
But, have they?
Or have they given up and don’t believe there is anything natural available that will help significantly?
Have you tried Magnesium Oil?
Yes, oil, NOT pills.
Did you know that research is now showing that most of the population of this country is in serious magnesium deficiency.
According to research, magnesium deficiency is now epidemic.
It does not often show up on tests as a deficiency because magnesium is so critical to cell, organ and brain health that if there is not enough in the blood, it will be pulled out of the tissues and joints.
Some of the indicators of magnesium deficiency are difficulty sleeping – and relaxing, muscle spasms, lack of energy and pain of unknown origin. Pain!
Many people take magnesium TABLETS or CAPSULES without noticeable relief from pain or improvement in sleep patterns. It does NOT absorb well through the digestive tract and the necessary amounts can cause diarrhea and stress the liver.
Research and experience now show that transdermal magnesium that you spray on your skin absorbs much more readily and goes directly into cells. Entering through the skin, instead of the digestive tract means it does not clog the liver or kidneys or cause diarrhea – as do high doses of magnesium pills.
There is a growing number of reports from patients with fibromyalgia symptoms that magnesium oil helps enormously to relieve their pain. Some find significant relief within a day or two, for some it may be a few weeks. Many report awareness of noticeable changes almost immediately, and major improvement within a few weeks or a month.
Liquid magnesium is not truly an oil, but it’ s a solution of natural magnesium chloride from ancient seas below the earth’ s surface.
It is natural and there are no reported side effects of any kind (except that it tastes bad to some folks).
