Becoming Fearless

What would happen if everyone in the entire world was … happy? Well, that’s exactly what our friend, Jack Humphrey started a movement toward.

The Thrive Global Challenge helps people become fearless, one by one.

Jack talks to some of the world’s leading experts on happiness, meditation, and problem-solving on the Thrive weekly podcast so you can learn from the best!

And he asked us to share our thoughts and Indigenous wisdom about pure, natural BLISS.

“Okay so honestly when I saw that this was almost an hour long, I thought oh I’ll listen for a bit and then go back later.  Then I got pulled into this wonderful truth of being with so much to think about and feel.  At the end I am a little, admittedly, tearful that it is over.  I found myself watching the time bar and thinking “no don’t be over yet I want to hear more.”  Just incredibly healing and thought provoking messages.  Thanks so much for this!”

Click the red button on the picture below to hear it now:

“Dang Jack..shit I am so emotional right now after listening to the interview with the TallTrees.  Every time she talked I got teary. Just so right and true what they are saying and you just know it deep down inside of you.”

Big prize if you listen to the end! Get the easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy key to true happiness.

Feeling Bummed Out? You Can Fix That With Simple Stress Reducers.

Feeling Bummed Out? You Can Fix That With Simple Stress Reducers.

“Anything Worth Doing is Worth Doing Poorly” by Jim Rohn.

“Shock city!” Right?
Doesn’t that sound like exactly what NOT to do?

We were taught that anything worth doing should be done well, or as perfectly as possible, right?  Who would want to do it poorly?  Our parents or teachers would have never approved that.
It’s definitely counter-intuitive.  Not what you would expect.

But then again, maybe it’s better than not doing anything.

Like take Sally, for example.  Sally wanted to write an article.  It would make her feel good about herself.  She knew it was worth doing, but then again, maybe she wasn’t ready.

Her internal dialogue – what she said to herself inside of her head – was full of all kinds of limitations, like: “Well, maybe I’m not ready.  Maybe I don’t really know enough.  I don’t have enough education.  I don’t know enough about it yet.  I don’t have enough experience with that.”  And on and on and on. (And on a really bad day, it might be: “I’m too old, too tired or just too fat.”)

So you can see the motivation was just gone by that time, and Sally did nothing at all!

feeling bummed out you can fix that with simple stress reducers 300x200 Feeling Bummed Out? You Can Fix That With Simple Stress Reducers.

She just talked herself out of it, and aced herself out of action that could really make a contribution, both to the world and to herself financially.  Oh, my.

What can we do here?  First, let’s talk about “self talk” or the language that’s going on in your head.  It can be very negative, can’t it?

How can you support yourself to take the action that matters, the action that will change your life?

So, one of the options that Sally had was this:
You have to change that attitude to have more confidence and move forward on the things that matter to you.

  • Where are your opportunities to relieve stress, and have more confidence, and believe in yourself – to be able to take those important actions?
  • What are the ways to reduce self judgment and negativity towards yourself?
  • How can you open up a sense of freedom and confidence and willingness to move forward – and do the things that you want or need to do?

One way is to use visualization or meditation as stress reducers, to release negativity and stress.

There are many approaches to meditation.

Breathing is one of the most simple forms of meditation that anybody can do.  There are actually hundreds of different kinds of breathing meditations available.

For now, we’ll start with the most basic breathing meditation, a classic.  It’s easy:

  • Get comfortable, quiet.  You can have your eyes open, but you may want to close them to focus more inside.
  • Simply focus your attention on your breath – and bring it back whenever you realize there are other thoughts coming in.  Just stay with your attention attached to your breathing.
  • Now, just let your attention follow your breath in and out.
  • Make no effort to change it.  Simply observe.  Notice the rhythm of your breath and the rising and falling of your chest.
  • Feel the feeling of the breath moving in and out of your lungs.  Notice how you feel at the end of the exhale.  Do you feel emptiness or space?  And how you feel when you start to breath in again.  And at the end of your next breath in.  Do you feel pressure or relaxed fullness?
  • If your mind wanders, simply place your attention back on your breath.  Do this as many times as you need to, without any judgement. Do it with ease.

  • As you notice your breathing, remember it does not have to be perfect.  You don’t have to make any effort.  You can do it any way you do it.  Poorly is fine, because no matter how you do it, it IS perfect.
  • Do this for about 5 minutes (start with at least 3 to get the full experience of settling in to your breath).

You will see the way your body breathes.

As you simply release any effort to control it, you allow it to be however it is (while giving it your full attention).
You will see that it will start to change.
You will start to relax.

Just having your full attention on your breath is focusing your mind in a way that releases all  other stresses  in your life. It takes your attention off the other worries of your mind.

When thoughts do come in, and as soon as you’re aware of it, you let them go, you are freeing yourself of stress.

Bringing your attention back to your breath gives a new awareness of yourself, of your rhythm.

Your attention is a gift.

It is a gift to yourself to focus it on your breath, or on anything positive of your choosing.

As a gift, you can give it to yourself for your relaxation, pain relief, and your own personal development.

You can give that to yourself every day, in the morning or evening,
or in any moment of challenge, whenever you need stress reducers.

How else can we support ourselves in this way?
How else can we give ourselves positive uplifting feelings?
What will raise our self-esteem, our confidence and our eagerness to participate in our own lives and give to others?

Another way that’s very simple and beautiful is The 21-Day “I Am a Gift to the World” Challenge.

The Challenge is an opportunity to realize the gift that you offer to the world just by being who you are.

You are naturally a magnificent being.
Just the way that you are now, without making any effort to be perfect or do it right, you are a gift.

If you want to know what your gift is and experience it, go to The 21-Day “I Am a Gift to the World” Challenge now, and open up your new life.

Do you ever beat yourself up in your mind (like most humans do), calling yourself names like “hopeless,” or “worthless?”  NOW you can change that.
If you ever feel that you are hopeless or worthless or anything bad, remember:… That is NOT true!

Honor what IS true about you by doing something you love.
Doing what makes your heart sing is your life purpose.

No one who can do it better than you, because that is your gift.
Without your gift (what YOU offer), something important is missing.  The world will not be the same!

The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge is F*R*E*E,
and it is a wondrous adventure that people love to take.

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part4

This is the Fourth part in a Series on becoming empowered by Knowing your Life Purpose.

Can Becoming Aware Of Your Life Purpose Make You Strong?

Do you remember the last time you took time just for you? Not just desperation time, or “playing hooky,” but time to feel good about yourself?

Now is the perfect time to take a moment for you!

Most of your life you are busy – maybe even running – accomplishing your tasks, working, and doing for others.

If that’s been your focus for a long time, it may have caused you to loose sight of your life purpose, or let it slip away.

Right now is YOUR time! That is, if you choose let it be.

Ask yourself this question?

1.  Do you know that you are appreciated?
2.  Do YOU appreciate yourself?

Take a moment now to CHOOSE to DO THIS FOR YOU:

Think of – and write or speak to yourself – two things you honestly, deeply appreciate in yourself.
Large or small, makes no difference.  If it is a major accomplishment for you to get out of bed, then it counts.  It matters.  YOU matter!

Take time now to BE in appreciation.

Do you know this?

  • To the subconscious self, every acknowledgement is profound.
  • And there is virtually no difference between acknowledgement for something very small and acknowledgement for something huge that took years to accomplish.

Acknowledgment, praise, or appreciation is literally nourishment – or food – for the driving force in your inner or subconscious self, so it will greatly uplift and energize you.  You can create a lot more cooperation from yourself with this “food” or reward.  And it is such an effortless way to give to yourself and to feel good – and happy!

So nourish yourself with acknowledgement and appreciation at every opportunity.  You will feel the difference it makes.

Steps to move forward:

•    BE in appreciation of You.  Nourish yourself with Acknowledgement (food for the inner self).

•    Contemplate what you naturally contribute – what you are naturally good at, what you enjoy doing most.

•    Say NO to the Big Fat Lie!

•    Re-educate your mind – to honor the true you.

•    Do what makes your heart sing, and you will be offering your gift to the world.

What do you love in life that makes you feel you have a life purpose?  What gives you a great reason to be alive?
What makes your heart sing?

Do you know that your love, your caring – matters?

Well, it does in a big way…  It matters more than you can imagine!

Now is the Time to Care for You, to Give Energy Back to Yourself.

Do you beat yourself up in your mind – putting yourself down or calling yourself names like “hopeless failure,” or “worthless?”

Do you treat your friends and people that you love that way?
NO!
So, how can it be OK to treat yourself that way?

Truth is… It’s not.

NOW you can change it.  You can re-educate your mind.

You are NOT a hopeless failure. If you feel that way make a note to your self…

That is a Big Fat Lie!

You can learn – train yourself – to pay attention to what your mind is calling you.
You will start to recognize the Big Fat Lies.

If you hear “you are stupid,” for example, or “you are worthless,” recognize that it is NOT true.
It is only one of the Big Fat Lies that your mind is accusing you of.

Refuse to accept that Big Fat Lie, and honor the truth of who you are.

Honor what is true about you by doing what you love.

Do what makes your heart sing! That is your life purpose.
Do it with the passion of who you are.

No one else has to tell you what is right about that, because you know deep in your heart.
There are no mistakes in that, and there is no one who can do it better than you, because that is your gift.

At the core, we are all related, so your caring affects your whole world.  Without your gift – what you are,
and what YOU offer – something foundational is missing and the world will not be the same.

There’s an excellent opportunity to have a deep experience of appreciation and caring.
It deepens your awareness of your life purpose.
It’s called The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge.
The Challenge is F*R*E*E – and it is a wondrous adventure.

You won’t want to miss this chance to really give to yourself, and experience the gift that YOU give to the world.

Take the opportunity – it is a joy to fulfill your life purpose, knowing that you are a gift to the world.

This knowing fills you like nothing else will.

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part 3

This is the third in a multi-part series on important ways you get strong from knowing your life purpose.

To view Part 1, read the story, and get the first 3 ways Julie pulled herself from the edge of depression into a vital knowing
of her life purpose, click this link: How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part 1

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength Part3To view Part 2, with more keys to unlock your strength, energy and enthusiasm, click this link: How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part 2

How can you get strong by discovering your life purpose?

Here are more tips for getting clarity on your life purpose through enhancing your relationship with yourself:

How can you motivate yourself to take action?

For example:
How do you go for that walk or create that special place for you to recharge your energy – especially if you are depressed or in pain?
How do you let yourself care, especially if you are afraid, tired and in a lot of pain?

If you don’t have the knowing of what your gift to the world is, how do you develop it?

Caring, feeling that you are important, and knowing you offer a gift – your unique gift to your world –
is essential
.
It’s a critical element in the emotional make-up of all human beings.

There is an awesome process for having the experience of deep appreciation for yourself (and others)
called The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge.  There will be more on that in a minute.

First, consider this:
If your life and family have not trained you to give and receive enough appreciation,
then you will want to train yourself.

This is of paramount importance to a good life.
How do you let yourself care, especially if you are afraid, tired and in a lot of pain?

How do you know that you are appreciated?

Do you appreciate you?

There are processes for doing this throughout the BeHereWow.com blog, because this is so important.
It is a core foundation of your life purpose.

Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength?
And Is Caring Essential Your Life Purpose?

Here are some ways to open and strengthen your relationship with yourself …
and make space for your life purpose to come clear in your awareness:

•    Replace forcing with enticing
•    Ask yourself for help
•    Use rewards – Do a Celebration Dance!
•    Treat yourself like someone you love
•    Be the model for how to relate to you

Just as Julie forced herself to go for that liberating walk that helped to open her up to her life purpose,
do the following experiment for you, even if you have to force yourself to do it.

Of course, the preferred way is not to force yourself, but to ask yourself for help, or entice yourself,
in a gentle encouraging way.

This is a far superior approach to forcing yourself, or using coercion and criticism.
You (like all human beings) hate to be coerced and criticized by yourself just as much as by other people.
Coercion and forcing go against the grain and most often set up reactions of defiance and resistance.
Most people are amazed at how much cooperation can be generated by asking – even from yourself!

Offer yourself rewards or celebrations as positive reinforcement.  These can be gold stars,
a favorite yummy snack or your Starbucks latte.  It can be time for a special call to chat with your best friend.
Make it whatever feels like a celebration dance to you!
(Celebration dances are actually great rewards if you like dancing.)

Always care for yourself as you would care for someone you love.

In your mind, do you – like a lot of people – criticize yourself and call yourself harsh belittling names?

Would you do that to a friend that you love? Generally, the answer is NO!

If you have, they were no doubt offended, and you most likely regretted it.
Or it significantly altered your friendship, right?

So, why would you treat yourself that way?

Who gave you permission to be mean to you, instead of kind and caring?  Did they have that right?  No!
Parents, teachers or others who took care of you as a child may have unintentionally modeled that for you
and taught you by example to do it.
They may not have wanted to do that and could even have just been passing along a bad pattern that
they learned from parents, teachers or care-takers.

Well, it’s time to change that.  You do not have to continue a pattern of negative relationship with yourself,
even if it has been a habit for a long time.
These patterns can be changed.

You deserve to be treated like someone you love.

Don’t you?

If you hesitated answering this question, then please do this: say YES!  You need to say it sincerely, and mean it,
as this is the foundation of your relationship with yourself, and you are setting the tone
and the model for how others will relate to you.

So, treat yourself the way you want others to treat you.  You will be gifting the world with a good model!

Remember The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge mentioned above as an awesome
chance to experience a depth of appreciation?  It is also a wonderful way to be in the appreciation
and at the same time open to the gift that You have to offer the world.

The Challenge is F*R*E*E – and it is also very freeing.

Mind Body Healing Update:Does Happiness Improve Health and Longevity?

A great debate exists today regarding whether our thoughts can change our lives, also known as the  law of attraction.  I believe the missing link in this debate is a more holistic approach to mind bod role our

The study appeared in the Journal of Applied Psychology: Health and Well-being, is the most comprehensive review thus far of scientific research linking health and happiness.  Its lead author, University of Illinois professor emeritus of psychology, Ed Dienr, who was also a scientist for the Gallup organization, the viewed long-term studies of human subjects, experimental animal and human trials, and studies that measure the health status of people stressed by natural events.

Dr. Dyer said.  “The general conclusion from each type of study is that your subjective well-being–that is, feeling positive about your life, not stressed out, not depressed–contributes to both longevity and better health among healthy populations.”

One study determined after following 5000 university students for more than 40 years, for example, that those who were the most pessimistic as students died earlier than their peers.  Another longer-term study that followed 180 Catholic nuns from early adulthood to senior citizenship found that those who wrote autobiographies that were positive in their early 20s tended to live longer than those who focus on negativity in their accounts of their early lives.

There are a few exceptions, however.  Most of the long-term studies have determined that anxiety, depression, and a lack of enjoyment of one’s daily activities, as well as pessimism are all linked to higher rates of disease and a shorter life.

Animal studies showed that there is a significant link between poor health and stress.  Research in which animals receive the same care but differ in their stress levels as well as an abundance of nest mate in their cages, for example, have found that stressed animals are much more susceptible to heart disease, have weaker immune systems, and tend to die sooner than those living in less crowded conditions.

Human studies have determined that positive, optimistic moods lower the levels of stress related hormones, promote a quicker recovery of the heart.  After exercise, and increase immune system function.  Other studies have shown that marital conflicts and high hostility in married couples are linked with slow wound healing and impaired immune system response.

Well, happiness might not prevent or cure disease, become healthy findings that positive emotions and life enjoyment contribute to enhance health and a longer life span is stronger than the data linking obesity to read juiced longevity, Diener said.

Dr. Diener said, I was almost shocked and certainly surprised to see the consistency of the data.  All of these different kind of studies point to the same conclusion: that health and then longevity in turn are influenced by our mood states.

“Happiness is no magic bullet, but the evidence is clear and compelling that it changes your odds of getting disease or dying young.

“Although there are a handful of studies that find opposite effects, the overwhelming majority of studies support the conclusion and happiness is associated with health and longevity.  Current health recommendations focus on four things: avoid obesity, eat right, don’t smoke, and exercise.  It made the time to add ‘be happy and avoid chronic anger and depression’ to the list.”

Today, while listening to day 15, SEVERAL lights in the mansion turned on. A rapid download of aha's begin to make my heart feel different. I'm integrating now, and can say that I will now experience the four directions on a physical level, rather than having the four directions as just concepts. How part of the earth we are. I look forward to a deepening of this physical connection with the four directions.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom, I'm so grateful!"

StacyQuinn"I went through the day 11 content, and I was hearing the same critical chatter in my mind. I realized how these rules, this previous programming was resisting my affirmations.

When I did my verbal affirmations, the chatter in my head was actually "talking" over my verbal affirmations. I was inches away from a mirror, looking directly in my own eyes, saying my affirmations and the voice in my head said:
"How could a gift to the world be so ugly?"

I was surprised by my own reaction. I started laughing. I mean belly laughing. I'm still laughing as I write this.

I don't know who that dude was but he's very rude and he's not my friend. I now know what he sounds like and how he talks.

I wanted to send this email to thank you. Because I'm not listening to that jerk anymore."

Monica_Leccese"I completed my first "Mindshift" after having battled the cacophony of voices and Master Trickster that seem to come along with changing thought patterns. I devoted a portion of each day to the practice, although not the same time each day: to the imaging, writing, and speaking of my declarations and affirmations. I recorded each "Gift" that I received and was sure to be grateful for each one, every day. By the end of the month my declarations were manifesting although not in an "overwhelming" manner. Still...at the end...I was so very grateful. I decided to commence another "shift" ...   I would create a circle, image my declarations, state them...but on a lesser scale than a full practice. After that decision I started to create a circle where I would light a flame to each direction. .......and that's when it happened......I shifted. I can only describe the feeling as the most amazing I have ever experienced: time, the world, my perspective...stopped; the energy rushing through me was so empowering it was nearly overwhelming. I had never before felt so alive, so en pointe in the moment, so...on...purpose. I had rubbed the magic lantern and the genie has held my hand ever since. I have been getting EVERYTHING I have been asking for, to the EXACT degree I have asked. Remember...you get what you ask for."
