Permaculture Principles, Share the Surplus, Care for the Earth

Permaculture Principles, Share the surplus or limit consumption? The definition by some practitioners of permaculture state 3 principles, they are usually stated as Care for the Earth, the People and the Future. But according to www.belili.org, some also express caring for the future as sharing the surplus, limiting consumption or re-invest the surplus. You can find out more about their movie and their passion by going to their website, http://belili.org/permaculture/Permaculture_GrowingEdge.html

The movie, Permaculture: The Growing Edge is an antidote to environmental despair, a hopeful and practical look at a path to a viable, flourishing future. The film introduces us to inspiring examples of projects, and includes a visit to David Holmgren’s own homestead, tracking deer with naturalist Jon Young, sheet mulching an inner-city garden with Hunters Point Family, transforming an intersection into a gathering place with City Repair and joining mycologist Paul Stamets as he cleans up an oil spill with mushrooms. We interview some of the key figures in the Permaculture movement, including David Holmgren, Penny Livingston-Stark, James Stark, Paul Stamets, Mark Lakeman, Dr. Elaine Ingham, Maddy Harland, and others.

Permaculture is a sustainable system of earth care that offers solutions to many of our grave environmental problems and a hopeful, proactive vision of change. The Permaculture movement, started by Australians Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the nineteen seventies, is now a worldwide network of skilled ecological designers, teachers, food growers, natural builders, environmental activists and visionaries. “Permaculture is the key to a post-carbon future,” says Maddy Harlan, editor of Permaculture Magazine.

Permaculture practitioners usually are planning hundreds of years in the future and how what they are doing now will affect the environment for all of us. Permaculture: Permanent Agriculture is a system that follows and mimics nature to create a sustainable living systems similar to a forest garden. Just as we are starting our permaculture farm at over 8,000 feet altitude in Colorado, we are visiting the forest and paying attention to what I call the Seven Permaculture Principles Action steps. They are also listed in our new book:

Permaculture Principles

How Surrendering to the Laws of Nature Provides Abundant Success

Here is the list of my basic action steps:

  1. Surrender to the laws of Nature

  2. Observe your surroundings

  3. Ask for Help

  4. Rest and Plan

  5. Implement your Plan

  6. Remember Natural Abundance comes from Good Stewardship

  7. Be Grateful for all of the Abundance that comes your way

I have used the principles and steps in this book that we just published to survive a death sentence of congestive heart failure. It is by getting back to living a life that is full of Gratitude, great nutrition and a community that enjoys the responsibility of taking care of Creation that has made a huge difference in my health and life.

8 months after changing to Permaculture Principles Lifestyle

There are so many people to be grateful for, that I must mention God first. I am now part of a community of people, at Directions University, How to live on Purpose and the Life Breath Coach that have always been willing to help and guide me back to health. My wife and of course, many more people from church and family. I am also thankful for the doctors, Physician Assistants and nurses as well as supporting staff at the VA (Veterans Administration) Hospital who have kept me alive and care for so many people.

Now it is my responsibility to be a good steward of my environment, including my body, by providing good nutrition for this body and the earth. We are all in this together. I have met so many people who have seen my “before” and “after” pictures in our new book: Permaculture Principles as well as sharing my testimony with them, who have decided to Live also.
As the TallTrees from Howtoliveonpurpose.com have shared many times, Gakina-awiiya (We Are All Related). words that have brought me back to the realization of what my purpose and passion are. A life that is once again connected to our Creator.

Chronic Pain |

July 28, 2011

How Can You Get Enough Sleep With Painful Fibromyalgia Symptoms?

Can you get deep healing sleep when you are in intense or chronic pain?

Sarah slammed the book shut.  She had had enough; she was gritting her teeth she was so mad.

Here we go AGAIN… It was a book on pain and all it told her was do this, do that and do, do, do more.

How Can You Get Enough Sleep With Painful Fibromyalgia SymptomsImage via Wikipedia

All Sarah could think was: ” I don’t want to hear anything else about what to do.

I don’t want to be told what to do!

I don’t want to be guided through what to do.

I don’t want to do anything more at all!

I have fibromyalgia and I’m in a lot of pain.”

She thought to herself, ” They should just tell you to get horizontal.

Get horizontal!”  As in, ” Lie down!”

Sarah was so exhausted she didn’t want to hear anything except how she could rest.

The pain was so intense it was hard for her to even relax enough to sleep.

But that’s what she needed most; that was all she needed.

SLEEP!

She just didn’t know how she was to get that sleep.

As it turned out, she spoke with the author of that book on pain and told her what she thought.  As the book was being edited for a new version, Sarah actually ended up giving her  input for it, and changes were made to address her concerns and frustrations.

It was clear to Sarah, to the author, and to everyone who she talked with that what she deeply needed was a better way to rest –

to get deeper, more restorative rest.

Difficulty getting meaningful rest and quality sleep certainly is a primary challenge for people with fibromyalgia symptoms.

So, how do you rest?

How do you get your best rest, especially if you’re dealing with pain?

This is THE big question – the most important thing to address.  This is the primary reason it’s critical to find some relief from the pain.

The biggest reason for pharmaceutical intervention, the drug therapies, is to be able to relieve the pain enough so that other more natural treatments, lifestyle modifications and balances can take place and be effective.

As a result of that pain relief, you can then have your attention present.

The pain relief is enough to allow you to do the other things necessary to relieve stress, release tension, avoid burnout and overwhelm, and to get things done efficiently.  You must be able to work without falling apart from fatigue, exhaustion and depression.

Sarah needed all of that that, a way to deeply rest.  Every one of us needs that!

Sleep is a primary need.

It is for everyone, but even more so if you are in great pain.  Getting really replenishing sleep, which is needed to repair, rebuild and recharge the body, is one of the great challenges of dealing with intense or chronic pain.  Treatment for pain has to be able to allow for the sleep irregularity that results from that pain.  One of the primary factors involved is being able to relax enough so that the pain can release or diminish.

The more tension there is, the more the pain gets locked in.

So it’s very important to find whatever ways work for you to relax and relieve this stress and tension.

Very powerful ways can be found in many different forms of meditation.  There are opportunities to experience tastes of these in posts in the Fibromyalgia Symptoms and in the Life Purpose categories.

Do you remember that THE biggest reason for pain relieving drugs, particularly with fibromyalgia, is to get enough relief so that the lifestyle changes and balances needed for healing can take place.   The pain relief then enables you to release stress and tension and to work without going into depression or burnout.

But first, on the physical pain component:

Many people experiencing fibromyalgia symptoms feel they have tried every natural remedy available and found it did not do enough.

But, have they?

Or have they given up and don’t believe there is anything natural available that will help significantly?

Have you tried Magnesium Oil?

Yes, oil, NOT pills.

Did you know that research is now showing that most of the population of this country is in serious magnesium deficiency.

According to research, magnesium deficiency is now epidemic.

It does not often show up on tests as a deficiency because magnesium is so critical to cell, organ and brain health that if there is not enough in the blood, it will be pulled out of the tissues and joints.

Some of the indicators of magnesium deficiency are difficulty sleeping – and relaxing, muscle spasms, lack of energy and pain of unknown origin.  Pain!

Many people take magnesium TABLETS or CAPSULES without noticeable relief from pain or improvement in sleep patterns.  It does NOT absorb well through the digestive tract and the necessary amounts can cause diarrhea and stress the liver.

Research and experience now show that transdermal magnesium that you spray on your skin absorbs much more readily and goes directly into cells.  Entering through the skin, instead of the digestive tract means it does not clog the liver or kidneys or cause diarrhea – as do high doses of magnesium pills.

There is a growing number of reports from patients with fibromyalgia symptoms that magnesium oil helps enormously to relieve their pain.  Some find significant relief within a day or two, for some it may be a few weeks.  Many report awareness of noticeable changes almost immediately, and major improvement within a few weeks or a month.

Liquid magnesium is not truly an oil, but it’ s a solution of natural magnesium chloride from ancient seas below the earth’ s surface.

It is natural and there are no reported side effects of any kind (except that it tastes bad to some folks).

If you want to look into this approach for yourself or a loved one,

Click this link: Magnesium Oil Therapy

Did you know that conditions linked to magnesium levels include:

Headaches, Muscle Spasms and Cramps, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia.

If you are willing and open to new awareness of yourself, You can do phenomenal things to affect your health and happiness.

Do you want to experience that for yourself now?

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part4

This is the Fourth part in a Series on becoming empowered by Knowing your Life Purpose.

Can Becoming Aware Of Your Life Purpose Make You Strong?

Do you remember the last time you took time just for you? Not just desperation time, or “playing hooky,” but time to feel good about yourself?

Now is the perfect time to take a moment for you!

Most of your life you are busy – maybe even running – accomplishing your tasks, working, and doing for others.

If that’s been your focus for a long time, it may have caused you to loose sight of your life purpose, or let it slip away.

Right now is YOUR time! That is, if you choose let it be.

Ask yourself this question?

1.  Do you know that you are appreciated?
2.  Do YOU appreciate yourself?

Take a moment now to CHOOSE to DO THIS FOR YOU:

Think of – and write or speak to yourself – two things you honestly, deeply appreciate in yourself.
Large or small, makes no difference.  If it is a major accomplishment for you to get out of bed, then it counts.  It matters.  YOU matter!

Take time now to BE in appreciation.

Do you know this?

  • To the subconscious self, every acknowledgement is profound.
  • And there is virtually no difference between acknowledgement for something very small and acknowledgement for something huge that took years to accomplish.

Acknowledgment, praise, or appreciation is literally nourishment – or food – for the driving force in your inner or subconscious self, so it will greatly uplift and energize you.  You can create a lot more cooperation from yourself with this “food” or reward.  And it is such an effortless way to give to yourself and to feel good – and happy!

So nourish yourself with acknowledgement and appreciation at every opportunity.  You will feel the difference it makes.

Steps to move forward:

•    BE in appreciation of You.  Nourish yourself with Acknowledgement (food for the inner self).

•    Contemplate what you naturally contribute – what you are naturally good at, what you enjoy doing most.

•    Say NO to the Big Fat Lie!

•    Re-educate your mind – to honor the true you.

•    Do what makes your heart sing, and you will be offering your gift to the world.

What do you love in life that makes you feel you have a life purpose?  What gives you a great reason to be alive?
What makes your heart sing?

Do you know that your love, your caring – matters?

Well, it does in a big way…  It matters more than you can imagine!

Now is the Time to Care for You, to Give Energy Back to Yourself.

Do you beat yourself up in your mind – putting yourself down or calling yourself names like “hopeless failure,” or “worthless?”

Do you treat your friends and people that you love that way?
NO!
So, how can it be OK to treat yourself that way?

Truth is… It’s not.

NOW you can change it.  You can re-educate your mind.

You are NOT a hopeless failure. If you feel that way make a note to your self…

That is a Big Fat Lie!

You can learn – train yourself – to pay attention to what your mind is calling you.
You will start to recognize the Big Fat Lies.

If you hear “you are stupid,” for example, or “you are worthless,” recognize that it is NOT true.
It is only one of the Big Fat Lies that your mind is accusing you of.

Refuse to accept that Big Fat Lie, and honor the truth of who you are.

Honor what is true about you by doing what you love.

Do what makes your heart sing! That is your life purpose.
Do it with the passion of who you are.

No one else has to tell you what is right about that, because you know deep in your heart.
There are no mistakes in that, and there is no one who can do it better than you, because that is your gift.

At the core, we are all related, so your caring affects your whole world.  Without your gift – what you are,
and what YOU offer – something foundational is missing and the world will not be the same.

There’s an excellent opportunity to have a deep experience of appreciation and caring.
It deepens your awareness of your life purpose.
It’s called The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge.
The Challenge is F*R*E*E – and it is a wondrous adventure.

You won’t want to miss this chance to really give to yourself, and experience the gift that YOU give to the world.

Take the opportunity – it is a joy to fulfill your life purpose, knowing that you are a gift to the world.

This knowing fills you like nothing else will.

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part 3

This is the third in a multi-part series on important ways you get strong from knowing your life purpose.

To view Part 1, read the story, and get the first 3 ways Julie pulled herself from the edge of depression into a vital knowing
of her life purpose, click this link: How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part 1

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength Part3To view Part 2, with more keys to unlock your strength, energy and enthusiasm, click this link: How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part 2

How can you get strong by discovering your life purpose?

Here are more tips for getting clarity on your life purpose through enhancing your relationship with yourself:

How can you motivate yourself to take action?

For example:
How do you go for that walk or create that special place for you to recharge your energy – especially if you are depressed or in pain?
How do you let yourself care, especially if you are afraid, tired and in a lot of pain?

If you don’t have the knowing of what your gift to the world is, how do you develop it?

Caring, feeling that you are important, and knowing you offer a gift – your unique gift to your world –
is essential
.
It’s a critical element in the emotional make-up of all human beings.

There is an awesome process for having the experience of deep appreciation for yourself (and others)
called The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge.  There will be more on that in a minute.

First, consider this:
If your life and family have not trained you to give and receive enough appreciation,
then you will want to train yourself.

This is of paramount importance to a good life.
How do you let yourself care, especially if you are afraid, tired and in a lot of pain?

How do you know that you are appreciated?

Do you appreciate you?

There are processes for doing this throughout the BeHereWow.com blog, because this is so important.
It is a core foundation of your life purpose.

Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength?
And Is Caring Essential Your Life Purpose?

Here are some ways to open and strengthen your relationship with yourself …
and make space for your life purpose to come clear in your awareness:

•    Replace forcing with enticing
•    Ask yourself for help
•    Use rewards – Do a Celebration Dance!
•    Treat yourself like someone you love
•    Be the model for how to relate to you

Just as Julie forced herself to go for that liberating walk that helped to open her up to her life purpose,
do the following experiment for you, even if you have to force yourself to do it.

Of course, the preferred way is not to force yourself, but to ask yourself for help, or entice yourself,
in a gentle encouraging way.

This is a far superior approach to forcing yourself, or using coercion and criticism.
You (like all human beings) hate to be coerced and criticized by yourself just as much as by other people.
Coercion and forcing go against the grain and most often set up reactions of defiance and resistance.
Most people are amazed at how much cooperation can be generated by asking – even from yourself!

Offer yourself rewards or celebrations as positive reinforcement.  These can be gold stars,
a favorite yummy snack or your Starbucks latte.  It can be time for a special call to chat with your best friend.
Make it whatever feels like a celebration dance to you!
(Celebration dances are actually great rewards if you like dancing.)

Always care for yourself as you would care for someone you love.

In your mind, do you – like a lot of people – criticize yourself and call yourself harsh belittling names?

Would you do that to a friend that you love? Generally, the answer is NO!

If you have, they were no doubt offended, and you most likely regretted it.
Or it significantly altered your friendship, right?

So, why would you treat yourself that way?

Who gave you permission to be mean to you, instead of kind and caring?  Did they have that right?  No!
Parents, teachers or others who took care of you as a child may have unintentionally modeled that for you
and taught you by example to do it.
They may not have wanted to do that and could even have just been passing along a bad pattern that
they learned from parents, teachers or care-takers.

Well, it’s time to change that.  You do not have to continue a pattern of negative relationship with yourself,
even if it has been a habit for a long time.
These patterns can be changed.

You deserve to be treated like someone you love.

Don’t you?

If you hesitated answering this question, then please do this: say YES!  You need to say it sincerely, and mean it,
as this is the foundation of your relationship with yourself, and you are setting the tone
and the model for how others will relate to you.

So, treat yourself the way you want others to treat you.  You will be gifting the world with a good model!

Remember The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge mentioned above as an awesome
chance to experience a depth of appreciation?  It is also a wonderful way to be in the appreciation
and at the same time open to the gift that You have to offer the world.

The Challenge is F*R*E*E – and it is also very freeing.

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part2

Can you get strong from a clear knowing of your life purpose?

This is the second in a multi-part series on important ways you get strong from knowing your life purpose.

To view Part 1, read the story, and get the first 3 ways Julie pulled herself from the edge of depression into a vital knowing of her life purpose, click this link: How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Part1

Here are more keys to unlock your strength, energy and enthusiasm, as Julie did that day on her walk in the woods….

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You StrengthRemember that Julie had gone walking, feeling no energy or excitement, on the day her close friend was hoping she would be giving birth to her new baby.

The baby girl – Vanessa – was born more beautiful and vibrant than Julie could ever have imagined.  She had thought newborns were usually born looking a little swollen and crumpled at first, but that was not the case with Vanessa.

The birth of her beloved honorary grandchild had rocketed Julie out of her almost hopeless despair.  The baby brought a brilliant new life force that opened her heart and fueled her energy.

This was because of the presence of a new life force, but it was also because Julie opened herself up and allowed herself to care, and reach out – and sing!

Emerging from being on the edge of depression, Julie let herself be awakened and energized by the arrival of the new baby – and by her own caring.

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength?

Julie did three more things that dramatically shifted her experience.  These are universal principles that are key to unlocking that Energy Shifting Door!

3 Ways to Shift Your Energy & Your Experience of Reality:

•    Take a Break from Your Routine.

Get a break from your regular routine.
This brings in fresh energy, and fresh input is important.
You critically need to take occasional breaks from your usual schedule.  This can be something as simple as getting up to stretch, or it can be going for a walk around the block, or even around your office.  Or it might be going to another room to call a friend and share a joke or an accomplishment – whatever shifts the energy.

Breaking from your routine opens you to a bigger perspective, to new horizons and new possibilities, which lets hope and enthusiasm in. These give you new strength.  Then going back to your routine can bring the focus needed to accomplish the task at hand.

•    Go Outside, If At All Possible.

Be in nature or in a place that lifts and inspires you.
Choose to be in an environment that transforms you – and opens new space for you to breathe.  For some this may be a music room or an art studio or a library, for others a patio or a garden or the park.  What is it for you?

If you don’t have a place like this yet, it’s a good time to find or create one for yourself.  This is something you both need and deserve.  It will allow you to discharge tension and to recharge your energy immensely, building strength and shifting your reality.

•    Dare to Care – Appreciate others and feel appreciated.

Care deeply about something or someone.  Appreciate that someone as much as you can.
Although it may seem surprising, that will make you feel full and much more appreciated yourself.

It can be anyone or anything that has meaning for you personally – regardless what anyone else thinks.
For many people it may be a special pet, as pets make it so easy to love and be loved.  They make it easy to feel appreciated.  They know that you care because you are there, even when you are not doing anything.  You do not have to DO anything for a pet to know that you care.  It is your pure being – just being there – that is the essence of your value to them, and instinctively this is true for all human beings as well.

There’s a very special opportunity to break out of your regular routine into an experience of deep inspiration and a new kind of caring.  It’s called The 21-day “I Am a Gift to the World!” Challenge. The Challenge is F*R*E*E – and very freeing.

To relieve stress and overwhelm, even if you are really burned out, and bathe yourself in deep appreciation, check out this Challenge.
It will fill you with a great sense of value and knowing that you have a gift for the world.

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Make You Stronger? Part 1

Can you get strength from having a sense of  your purpose in life ?

Where do you get energy to fulfill your destiny, your mission – or your life purpose?

Does Knowing Life Purpose Make You Stronger?Julie had no energy today.  And she was in a funky mood, again.
Why was it so hard?
She felt so ‘NOT-good’, again.

She couldn’t think of anything that mattered.  Julie didn’t feel like she had a lot to live for right now.
Didn’t think she had anything to offer. She just felt … weary, empty – nothing.

She gathered herself, determined to go for a walk.  She didn’t want to, but she forced herself, knowing it was supposed to be good for her, and it might get her energy moving.

She was wondering whether it mattered anyway. Would that affect her life purpose?  Why did it even matter? She was almost depressed.

Lori, her dear friend and neighbor, was about to have a baby.  Usually the thought of the new baby coming made her want to sing.
It was like a miracle.

But not now.  Lori was due any moment, but days and days had gone by and the baby just wasn’t coming.
Julie was excited, but it was dampened.  She felt like she was on hold.
No enthusiasm.

It was almost as if she was afraid to be really excited yet.

Julie was like lead.  Just a little depressed.  Feeling no energy, again.
Another day.  Washed out.

She went walking in the trees, wandering – letting her eyes take in the light through the leaves.  That helped.
After a while, moving began to make her feel less wooden.  It even felt good – invigorating.
Oh, what a relief.

Her body eased.  She could feel it, and it got lighter.
She continued on.  Being in the trees, seeing their beauty and the movement of life in them, relaxed her and allowed her to expand and open.  She spread her arms wide and looked up and asked for help.

She asked to be able to breathe, take it all in, and be alive with energy in the beauty of the woods.

Then she came to the little footbridge.

As she was starting to cross the bridge, she felt a wave of dynamic power.  It shook her.  It was like a new, vibrant energy.

It felt like a life force and it filled her with joy.
It was wondrous.
She was bursting and she wanted to sing.

Then she remembered she’d heard a Native American chief tell of the singing of a child’s “essence song,” and how it used to help them at every major transition, from birth – coming of age, marriage, having children, grief, crisis – to their death.

The parents especially, and elders, listen for the song as the baby grows in the womb.

They sing it for him or her at the birth – to welcome the child into their new reality.

The whole village sings it for someone in crisis.  It makes a huge support system.  It’s almost like feeding back that person’s own essential energy to them – to give them strength (fortify them) to meet the challenge.

Julie remembered that story because she was shaking with energy and life.
She burst into tears as she felt this new presence.  She began to sing.  A song was coming from her without any thought.

She knew – it was the welcoming song for Lori’s baby – whose name was going to be Vanessa.

The song poured out of her, in streams of love and joy and celebration.
Oh, she’s being born now, Julie thought.  Right now!  She glanced at her watch; it was 5:24.

She could not stop singing for quite some time.
The song kept pouring out from her as if it had its own momentum.
It was a joyous lullaby of beautiful words that she was not directing. They just came.

She was standing by the creek with open arms singing.  Singing like she had never sung before.
She felt this huge love.
She had a reason to be strong now.
She wanted so much to be able to play and dance with Vanessa.

She did have something to do – something to give.  And it mattered.

What was it that Julie did?  How did it help her?

How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength?

What do you need to do to get strength and energy?

Emerging from being on the edge of depression, Julie began to make some changes.
(Look at what else she did that changed her body energy and her emotional feelings in the next 2 posts, Part 2 and Part 3 of How Does Knowing Your Life Purpose Give You Strength? Coming shortly.)

Let’s look now at:
Three things to do to shift your reality:
(They changed Julie’s reality dramatically.)

•    Take Action.

Find a way to take action – that is the key.
Do something that is not in your plan for the day, something unusual for you  right now.

For Julie, walking worked because, though she had to push herself to do it, it did not require too much effort.

So despite her lack of energy, she managed to take action.

•    Move Your Body.

Walk or exercise in some way that feels good to you.
Any kind of movement or exercise that works for you will be fine.

If you have pain or fatigue, like with fibromyalgia, for example, gentle movement like Yoga or Tai Chi is the best
– or exercise in water.

•    Know that you matter.

This is of primary importance.  Essential.
Knowing you have something to give and can make a difference is profoundly important.
It is essential to your wellbeing and fulfillment.

So, how do you create the energy that you need to take action – and the strength to get your body moving, especially if you are depressed or in pain?

How do you know that you matter?
And how do you know that you have something important to give?

These questions are a core foundation of your life purpose.  They will be the focus of Part 2 of this series – upcoming shortly:

Cure For Boredom |

Cure For Boredom, What Can I Do? Part One

The best cure for boredom is to get interested in yourself, your life, your surrounding, and anything and everything.  Be curious, ask questions, look for possible answers, try new things to see if you like them.  One cure for boredom is to remember what you liked to do as a child or a teenager, that you really liked doing, then go and do it now.  See if that lights you up at all, excites you.

If you are feeling bored because you feel lonely, then start engaging with others more.

Cure for BoredomHere some ideas to engage with others:

1. Talk to people at work.  Find out what they’re doing, what they like to do for fun.

2. Try classes around movement and exercise. Some examples- yoga, ecstatic dance or 5 Rhythms dance , Nia or any number of classes like that.  Try different ones, see which ones you like and where  people are friendly to you.  Then commit to going to these classes to build relationships and  improving your health.

3. Volunteer at an organizations.  Helping others always helps us feel good about ourselves and can help you feel more connected.

4. Maybe you’re confused about  your relationships, then try going  to Al-Anon  meetings to see if you can learn about relationships through Al-Anon.  Al-Anon is for friends and families of alcoholics and addicts, and there are people to connect to there at many meetings.

5. Try new hobbies, maybe a knitting club or a book club, or a painting class, or learn to sail.  The possibilities are endless.

6. Try going to church or a meditation center.  If you find one you like, start taking classes there, or volunteer there.

7. Call up friends and meet for coffee or lunch or dinner.  Maybe invite a few friends to your home and cook for them.

8.  Invite your friends over to play board or card games or some other fun activity.

9.  Think of something you like to talk about. Create a group and invite friends to come and share their knowledge on this topic.

10.  What are some other ideas you can think of to add to your list?  And then just start doing some.

It’s important to step away from the computer and the TV and engage with other people.  If you keep trying different ideas, you will find some great places to engage in conversations with people.  You have value and gifts of your very own to share, so start sharing them.

One way to begin to engage with others anonymously is to take the 21 Day “I AM a Gift To The World!” Challenge. 21 Day I AM a Gift to the World Challenge

This is a seven part challenge that was created by my good friends Robert and Terri TallTree, it’s a fun challenge to begin to connect with others, and to feel and see how valuable you really are. There is also a place to talk about the  challenge.

To Your Highest Good,

Harvard Study Finds Antioxidant Vitamins Reduces Colon Cancer Risk

According to a new study published in Cancer Causes Control, supplementation with antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E is strongly associated with lower levels of colon cancer.  The researchers also found that folate, a B vitamin is associated with lower cancer risk as well.

Dr. Stephanie Smith-Warner, an associate professor of nutritional epidemiology at Harvard Medical School said, “Total intake of vitamins A, C, and E were associated with a 24 to 30% lower risk of colon cancer.  After adjusting for other colon cancer risks, the inverse associations for total intake of vitamin A, C, and E remained statistically significant.”

The new findings follow a report recently published that patients using multivitamins during and after treatment for colon cancer did not reduce the risk of cancer returning or the risk of mortality.  It should be noted that most multivitamins contain the minimum daily requirement for adults, not optimal disease fighting levels.

Other studies have previously found that vitamins A, C, E, and folate were linked to the reduction of colon cancer because of their high antioxidant power and potential anticancer properties.

Other studies have not found consistent substantiation that these vitamins lower colon cancer risk.

The mission of this new research was to evaluate the associations between vitamins A, C, and E and the risk of developing colon cancer, using information obtained from 13 previous studies involving over 650,000 participants.

Multivitamin use, especially in combination with individual vitamin supplements.  Was linked to a significant reduced risk of developing colon cancer, while increase folic acid (also known as folate) intake was also related to a lower risk.

The researchers went on to say, “After adjusting for folate intake, the inverse association between total vitamin a intake and risk of colon cancer… When no longer statistically significant, whereas the inverse associations between total intake of vitamin C and E and risk of colon cancer that that that remained statistically significant.”

The authors noted that there are biological mechanisms support team.  Their results, in furring that total vitamin C and vitamin E intakes may be associated with a lower risk of colon cancer due to their ability to break free radical chain reactions and act as electron donors to reduce reactive free radicals and iron.

But the researchers concluded that the reporting relationship between vitamin C and E consumption could be also due to the vitamins.  High relationship with folate intake which also has a similar relationship associated with lower colon cancer risk.

They concluded by saying, “we cannot rule out the possibility that the apparent protective effect of total vitamin C and E intakes and of multivitamin supplement use against colon cancer would do to their positive correlations with total folate intake or intakes of other vitamins present in multivitamin such as B6.”

Miracle Mindshift! Success Stories

Kevin Wilke "During the time I was using the Miracle Mindshift, out of nowhere significantly increased the money into my business while at the same significantly decreased the time I was working in my business.

So now, this is something that came out of nowhere because of this program.

And now... a new branding opportunity has opened and is going to be a great new income opportunity and a bigger business!"

- Kevin Wilke

Hear Kevin's LIVE Success Story:

Lynn Benjamin"Something so beautiful happens each day as I listen to the daily Miracle Mindshift. The best way I can describe the experience is simultaneously getting juiced up a vibrational level, or more, while getting settled right into, grounded into the center of my being.

Today, while listening to day 15, SEVERAL lights in the mansion turned on. A rapid download of aha's begin to make my heart feel different. I'm integrating now, and can say that I will now experience the four directions on a physical level, rather than having the four directions as just concepts. How part of the earth we are. I look forward to a deepening of this physical connection with the four directions.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom, I'm so grateful!"

- Lynn Benjamin

StacyQuinn"I went through the day 11 content, and I was hearing the same critical chatter in my mind. I realized how these rules, this previous programming was resisting my affirmations.

When I did my verbal affirmations, the chatter in my head was actually "talking" over my verbal affirmations. I was inches away from a mirror, looking directly in my own eyes, saying my affirmations and the voice in my head said:
"How could a gift to the world be so ugly?"

I was surprised by my own reaction. I started laughing. I mean belly laughing. I'm still laughing as I write this.

I don't know who that dude was but he's very rude and he's not my friend. I now know what he sounds like and how he talks.

I wanted to send this email to thank you. Because I'm not listening to that jerk anymore."

- Stacy Quinn

Monica_Leccese"I completed my first "Mindshift" after having battled the cacophony of voices and Master Trickster that seem to come along with changing thought patterns. I devoted a portion of each day to the practice, although not the same time each day: to the imaging, writing, and speaking of my declarations and affirmations. I recorded each "Gift" that I received and was sure to be grateful for each one, every day. By the end of the month my declarations were manifesting although not in an "overwhelming" manner. Still...at the end...I was so very grateful. I decided to commence another "shift" ...   I would create a circle, image my declarations, state them...but on a lesser scale than a full practice. After that decision I started to create a circle where I would light a flame to each direction. .......and that's when it happened......I shifted. I can only describe the feeling as the most amazing I have ever experienced: time, the world, my perspective...stopped; the energy rushing through me was so empowering it was nearly overwhelming. I had never before felt so alive, so en pointe in the moment, so...on...purpose. I had rubbed the magic lantern and the genie has held my hand ever since. I have been getting EVERYTHING I have been asking for, to the EXACT degree I have asked. Remember...you get what you ask for."
